Digitalization is one of the fastest and most effective tools for promoting competitiveness, while also helping to reduce logistics costs and risks, notes Arminas Samsonas, the head of LOGIFLY.
“We see that in recent years, Latvian entrepreneurs are increasingly thinking about digitalization, so LOGIFLY’s entry into the Latvian market was a very logical step for us,” says A. Samsonas. “In Lithuania, we have worked with several companies over the years that also had branches in Latvia, so our expansion proceeded organically,” the head of LOGIFLY adds, noting that the markets of Latvia and Lithuania are very similar. Working in Latvia is convenient, as the principles of business operations and the mindset of entrepreneurs are not very different from Lithuanians – we understand market needs and can offer the best solutions.
A wide range of offerings LOGIFLY’s information system covers the entire logistics chain process, including transportation order management, says A. Samsonas. “For example, the selection of carriers or organizing procurement tenders, automatic calculation of transportation costs, determining distances, and creating CO2 reports. The system also allows for ramp reservations, helping to register loading and unloading times at the warehouse while specifying vehicle and driver information. Moreover, the system provides customers with yard management services – number recognition, automatic gate opening, providing information to drivers on electronic displays, weighing cargo and other services that can be provided by integrating or installing the respective equipment,” A. Samsonas points out.
He explains that LOGIFLY’s clients are predominantly companies with their own warehouses or those that lease them. “We also serve companies that receive or dispatch vehicles for loading or unloading goods daily, as well as businesses that order transport from transport companies. Our client base includes various manufacturing companies, warehouse service providers, retail chains, courier companies, and companies operating in the agricultural sector,” A. Samsonas emphasizes.
Partners are satisfied One of LOGIFLY’s clients is the international postal and logistics company Omniva. Modris Dambergs, Omniva’s Delivery and Sorting Manager in Latvia, notes that their collaboration with LOGIFLY has been mutually positive, productive, and successful. “We selected the solutions offered by LOGIFLY because they were the most suitable for Omniva’s needs, and this has proven itself in practice. We greatly appreciate the responsiveness and openness to our proposals for improving operations, the implementation of operational improvements, and also the generation of common ideas. Currently, we mainly utilize LOGIFLY services for small ramp or gate reservations for couriers, which allows for efficient planning of transport loading and unloading times,” emphasizes M. Dambergs, adding that this helps avoid queues and the resulting time losses.
“In fact, by using LOGIFLY’s services, we have significantly improved planning for both small and large cargo vehicle rotations. Furthermore, we appreciate that LOGIFLY specialists are well-versed in the logistics business and understand the needs of companies almost intuitively. Sometimes we’ve received suggestions from LOGIFLY for solutions that initially may not appear usable, but through testing and checking in reality, we’ve found that they are the best options,” acknowledges M. Dambergs.
Improving competitiveness The company Latvijas Pasts also positively assesses its collaboration with LOGIFLY. “LOGIFLY not only understands our needs but also adapts its solutions according to our requirements,” explains Edgars Kļaviņš, Head of the Process and Tool Development Department at Latvijas Pasts. “We value both LOGIFLY’s in-depth knowledge and experience in transportation logistics and warehouse management methods. We have recently implemented LOGIFLY’s digital tools for managing warehouse ramps, which significantly enhances our planning and control capabilities from both operational and quality perspectives,” says E. Kļaviņš, adding that LOGIFLY quickly responds to system requests and can implement solutions in a relatively short timeframe.
“Currently, we are utilizing the potential of LOGIFLY’s ramp management and control solutions according to our immediate needs, but not fully. At the same time, it is worth noting that we see the opportunity to align these ramp management systems with our internal systems to provide integrated digital tools in the future. This would not only reduce manual process control but also costs,” shares the Head of the Process and Tool Development Department at Latvijas Pasts regarding future plans.
Adapting to Clients One of the main challenges in the Latvian market, according to the head of LOGIFLY, is gaining recognition. “We are trying to achieve this by disseminating information about our offered solutions and implemented projects in the public domain. This solution has been very successful in Lithuania, and we are striving for a similar outcome in Latvia. When we talk about challenges in system implementation, the main problem in this case is the time clients need to consider our proposal and make the decision to change the working principles they have been using until now. It’s not a quick process to show clients how they could organize their logistics more effectively, as logistics principles and methods in some companies have often not changed for many years. This signifies significant changes, which employees naturally resist. At the same time, the solution implementation process itself is quick,” A. Samsonas candidly states, emphasizing that all clients have been satisfied with the final result so far.
“We pay a lot of attention to project management, client servicing, and the development of the system according to client needs – we see that this is important for Latvian companies. A successful project implementation process is also crucial – completed according to the planned scope, on time, and fully. We organize all LOGIFLY projects based on project management principles, and our clients are very satisfied with the process. We act as project managers for our clients, ensuring a successful project execution, as good support and the ability to communicate and ask questions with us are essential to clients. Additionally, we provide client support during and outside of working hours and adjust to the specific needs of clients,” notes A. Samsonas.
High Goals “Our goal is to digitalize logistics management in Latvia by uniting all companies into a single logistics chain,” shares A. Samsonas. “We want to ensure that, for instance, all companies can choose a warehouse from which to retrieve production or to which to deliver it, using a single database, as well as exchange documents on one platform. This would save both employee time and ensure that the information flow operates faster and more efficiently, which would also enhance the competitiveness of local businesses in the European market. Our objective is to create added value and leave a positive footprint in the Latvian business environment, promoting its growth,” A. Samsonas indicates, not hiding the fact that there are other companies in the market offering similar services, making competition inevitable.
“There are vast opportunities in Europe to receive similar services, but we approach problems with the mindset that we are running a marathon, not a sprint. We carefully consider all issues, also taking sustainability aspects into account, which our clients appreciate, as they recommend us to other companies,” emphasizes the head of LOGIFLY, noting that currently most of the company’s clients are from the Baltic Sea region, but LOGIFLY plans to expand into other European countries soon.
Some of the benefits mentioned by clients when using the LOGIFLY solution include:
The ability to plan incoming/outgoing cargo precisely to the minute, as well as to create daily, weekly, and monthly work plans.
Accumulation of historical data, its analysis, and easy adaptation to changes, as well as improving work efficiency by up to 50%.
The possibility to completely eliminate the security post for cargo, light, and operational vehicles entering and exiting the territory.
The possibility to automate the receipt/printing of cargo-related documents at self-service terminals.
Electronic management of transport order requests, surveys, and tenders in a unified order portal.
The ability to ensure that carriers can timely enter/exit clients’ restricted areas, thus saving carriers’ time. Improvement of processes for transport customers, allowing them to receive more favorable pricing conditions from carriers.
